Proxix Solutions’ Illinois Premium Tax Database Now Available
(PALM HARBOR, Fla.) May 16, 2005 - Proxix Solutions has released the newest edition to its database product suite, Illinois Premium Tax database. Illinois Premium Tax database assigns the correct tax authority based on the street address and compares the relation between its physical location to jurisdictional boundaries.
Proxix's Premium Tax databases help insurance companies assign the proper tax jurisdiction for premium taxes. Currently a number of states assess premium taxes based on local municipalities that do not conform to Zip Code boundaries. Adding to the complexity, some states, such as Illinois, assess premium taxes by fire districts, while Florida assesses at the fire and police district level.
To create the Illinois database, Proxix staff called every fire department within the state and requested a list of all municipalities and townships falling under that department’s responsibility. Proxix entered the completed list into its spatial layers creating a detailed layer depicting the corresponding IL Fire Premium Tax codes.
