Proxix Solutions and NAVTEQ Work Together to Develop Industry-Leading Products
(PALM HARBOR, FL) August 15, 2005 – Proxix Solutions, a leading innovator in developing GIS solutions, tax applications and Web services, and NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data, announced that they will work together to develop innovative location-based products serving enterprise markets.
Proxix’s GIS development team has been at the forefront of the geospatial industry for the last ten years, pioneering many firsts in geospatial technology including the first national address-level geocoder, the first CASS® certified geocoding system, the first multiplatform geocoding system and the first embedded spatial analysis engine.
NAVTEQ continues as a leader in the global digital mapping industry by delivering precise geometry, complex road network attribution and detailed street network data for North America and countries on four other continents. Together, the two companies will work to serve the enterprise market through the availability of spatially enhanced products, services and applications.
The first development between the companies will be PxPoint. PxPoint will have an advanced extensible architecture and use NAVTEQ data. PxPoint’s core feature will be its functionality to produce the highest level of accurate results possible. PxPoint will also offer many exceptional features including geocoding with any map type feature (point, line or polygon), geocoding addresses, points of interest, and intersections, and providing extensive metadata regarding match and location quality. Built-in spatial analysis routines will be available to provide any application with a single, integrated spatial solution environment.
PxPoint will comply with OpenGIS Standard and be available on multiple platforms, including Windows and UNIX.
