Fire Stations/Response Areas
Knowing where a homeowner’s property is in relation to a fire station helps insurance companies determine it’s fire ranking. First American Proxix Solutions' Fire Stations & Response Areas database is a compilation of fire station locations and fire response areas that have been incorporated into a standardized national digital database.
Compiling federal, state, local and commercial sources, fire station locations were verified using First American Proxix Solutions parcel-level geocoding and spatial technology, high accuracy road network data, high-resolution aerial photography, onsite visits, and personal contact surveys. Currently, fire response areas are based on county and municipal boundaries as well as fire district boundaries gathered directly from local sources in each state. First American Proxix Solutions' database also provides other valuable information, such as, the type of district, which indicates whether a station is full time, voluntary or both, the distance of the nearest station from an insured property, and the geographic coordinates of each fire station.
Integrated into First American Proxix Solutions' insurance solution CATUM, the Fire Stations/Response Areas database enables insurers to accurately locate and assess properties for fire rankings.
